DrayTek Firewall Question

I recently bought a DrayTek Vigor 2925 router after learning that the router offered by my ISP had major security issues.

I've been looking through the admin panel of the 2925, and found that it seems to handle security somewhat differently than a consumer device.

In my old router (and in the four or five I've had in the past) there was an option under the firewall settings to select "High Security" "Normal Security" "Low Security". I've always "HIgh Security".

On the Draytek, there are the following three settings that can be activated by checkbox.
- Always pass inbound fragmented large packets (required for certain games and streaming)
- Enable Strict Security Firewall
- Block connections initiated from WAN

I plan to uncheck "Always pass inbound fragmented large packets", and to check both "Enable Strict Security Firewall" and "Block...

Hi all,

First post so not sure quite where to put this...

We have a managed Cisco router for our VoIP phone system and cannot turn DHCP off (the connection provider who owns the router also refuses to).

I was thinking of using this Cisco router as a 'modem' of sorts by taking its LAN feed and using it as a WAN link on another router which will face our network (DrayTek 2830), which I can then turn DHCP off. Would this work, and would I be able to completely disarm all security and open all ports on the DrayTek?

The purpose of this is to allow us to use the secondary data ports on our Polycom VVX410. Our VoIP provider doesn't allow us to set static IP's or VLAN's on the phones, so I'm having to use DHCP policies on our server and want to put our VoIP router on the network without it interfering with our Windows DHCP server.

Thanks in...

How to register a Draytek VigorPro 5510 UTM Firewall

Hi All,

I have just bought a Draytek Vigorpro 5510 UTM firewall online and I need to register the product. According to the quick start guide to register the product I have to go to www.vigorpro.com but that website does not exist anymore. Is there an alternative way to do this or is the device no longer supported.

Regards.

Draytek Vigor 2960 as a solution?

Hi there,

New here, but its' nice to see there's a community for Draytek. I work from home and have 2 ISPs, for failover. My existing Ubiquiti router just isn't a good fit for my needs with regard to configuring failover settings. I've known about Draytek for years, but never used their products. At the moment, I'm eyeing the 2960 router. Couple questions:

The model is 4 years old, looks like. Is that accurate, or are they just slow to put out new models?

Am I correct in thinking the 2960 will let me define eth0 (for example) as my primary net w/ a Static IP and eth1 (again, for example) as failover, and it'll automatically do this based on some sort of watchdog service that runs and checks the connection?

My internet connections are 100/100 and 150/20, will I be able to push that through the 2960 without it bogging down or becoming...

Inbound VPN Config on 3900

Alright, thanks everyone for help in an earlier thread. Appreciated. My 3900 has arrived and setup was a breeze, save for 1 thing... inbound VPN.

I have configured a VPN profile for my PC to connect while away from my home office. When I use the draytek vpn app, it connects, but checking my public IP on the internet doesn't show my home office WAN IP.
A configuration shot below. I'm pretty sure I am missing something. Also, I have added a user and enabled VPN access for that user. It's the user I'm using in my VPN App. Sorry, for the newbie question, the guides on the draytek site aren't updated for 1.3.0 firmware.

Cisco and DrayTek Site to Site

Hi,

I'm haveing a problem with a Cisco and DrayTek Site to Site vpnwith SIP calls. The tunnels are up and I can ping them and I can access the web interface of the SIP enabled PBX's at the remote site, however when they try to call the office at the remote site the call doesn'tstart.

Cisco has looked at the router config and said the remote site is a fault with sending an incorrect SPI.

Any ideas?

Hi all,

I have 10 Draytek SSL Users all setup and working fine connecting back to a Draytek 2960 but I have 1 that just refuses to work. I've reinstalled the Draytek Smart VPN Client, I've copied the profiles.cfg to another laptop and it works fine. The settings are the exact same as the ones that work. Here is what the log file on the laptop has to say -

Route some traffic down VPN but not all

I have a Draytek with a site to site VPN to another office, also a draytek. I would like to set up some routing policies so that anything going to a certain domain goes through the VPN and then out to the internet rather than directly out to the internet. Is that possible and if so how do I go about it?

Trying to understand how to setup the dhcp for the VLANs, just don't seems to find any information about it, that possible at all? And if so, any guides how there for Draytek newbies?

Found many other guides for other models however the VLAN menu of the 2820 does not look anything like on any of those guides.

Hi there,

I have had to basically go to the Default Gateway portal to look at the config as I have an external person trying to RDP to one of our servers.

When I try to go to 192.168.10.1 (this is my default gateway) I get nothing but this message:

This site can’t be reached

192.168.10.1 took too long to respond.

I have tried rebooting the router

I have tried different browsers

I have tried different machines

I am connected via ethernet

Anyone have any ideas?

Design for Factory network

Hello,

Need some pointers on the best setup for a factory network.

Here is the existing setup :-

Site A

VDSL broadband into Draytek 2860 router, one unmanaged switch, 2 PCs, some telemetry equipment (essentially remote meter reading)

Site B

DSL broadband into Draytek 2860 router, several managed switches (with fibre links between them), Windows DC, domain PCs, Synology NAS

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Site A and B have clear line of sight over approx. 400yds (Site B is fed via a different exchange and cannot get VDSL)

Customer wants Site A to be able to store files on the Synology NAS in Site B, also wants Site B to use the VDSL connection from Site A whilst having the DSL connection as a failover should the wireless bridge fail for...

host two sites behind one sonicwall

We're trying to run both a live site and testing site behind the same sonicwall. We've got two virtual servers on two separate LAN ports, we also have two separate WAN ports so we want to route traffic from WAN1 to LAN1 and traffic from WAN2 to LAN2.

We've added firewall rules to allow traffic from WAN to either server on port 80 but the testing site isn't working. The Live site still works.

Is there anything We need to do to make sure that the traffic is routed as we need?

Hi All.

I have a Draytek 2830 router offering DHCP on my network.  In the GUI it shows no custom DHCP options are setup, however Wireshark shows it offers an IP address in option 66.

How can I stop it making the option 66 part of its DHCP offer?

Thanks,

Hey guys,

Pulling my hair out on this one.

I'm trying to get a VPN connection up using the Draytek VPN client but am having a weird issue. The client, when using a 10. address the connection goes through but when using a 192. address (different network connection on the local machine) I get the error, "Access denied because username and/or password is invalid on the domain"?

Draytek Vigor 2925ac Wifi

I've installed the second 2825ac and something seems to be not working fine.

The wifi seems to be sluggish. On a Mac, the connection is hard to reestablished once it when to sleep mode. I usually have to turn the Mac wifi off and on to have internet access again, although the Mac indicates it is connected to the router.

Is this model a bad one, with a bad wifi performance?

Draytek Vigor 2925ac - Were is the Bottleneck?

$

Hello.

I have a Hytron router provided by the ISP.
It provides a 200Mbps broadband if tested by ethernet.

I connected to it, in bridge mode, a Draytek 2925ac.
Testing the internet speed on the Draytek by ethernet shows a 45% slower result.

I guess I have no setup on the Draytek that can cause this. Either QoS or data flow monitor are off.

Any clue?

Thanks.

Remote Site Router Crashes.

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone had some advice on how to troubleshoot this issue.

We have 20 locations all connected via IPSEC LAN-to-LAN using a mix of Draytek 2830s and 2860s. For some reason 4 of the sites have all started dropping out at once periodically for roughly 5-10mins and then come back up on their own accord, it's always the same sites and they don't seem to have anything in common.

2 x sites ADSL

2 x sites FTTP 70/70Mbps

I can see the latency going up really high until ping responses time out however when the network drops the VPN tunnels remain connected according to the connection manager on the head office router, I can't browse the the web interface of the routers via their WAN address or internal address.

It's my opinion that whatever the issue is it's originating from our head office (all other sites are much smaller...
